A person of mass 40 kg picked up a bag of mangoes and climbed ten steps . If the bag contains ten mangoes , each of mass `0.5` kg and the height of each step is 10 cm , then find the work done by the person in carrying that till tenth step (Take g = `10 m s^(-2)`).

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
450 J

H = 10 `xx` 10 cm = 100 cm = 1m
`M_(P)` = 40 kg
`M_(m)` = 0.5 kg
Work done `= (M_(P) + 10 M_(m)) gH`
(Gravitational energy)
`= (40 + 10 xx (0.5)) xx 10 xx 1`
= 45 `xx` 10 = 450 J
