Properties of a bar magnet:
A magnet attracts small pieces of the iron and this property is called attractive property.
A freely-suspended bar magnet aligns itself in north-south direction of the earth and this is known as geographic directive property .
Like poles of a magnet repel and the unlike poles attract each other.
Magnetic poles always exist in pairs.
