Which method is employed for the separation of constituents from a heterogeneous liquid-liquid mixture? Explain the principle involved.

Heterogeneous liquid-liquid mixture is a mixture of two immiscible liquids which form two layers. The lighter liquid forms the upper layer while the heavier liquid from the lower layer. They can be separated by taking the mixture in a separating funnel where the liquids gets separated into two layers on standing. by opening the nozzle, the liquids in the two layers are separately collected.
