Dispersal of seeds takes place in different ways.
(a) Wind: Seeds possess tufts of fine hair or wing like structures which can be carried away to long distances.
Example: Cotton
(b) Water: Fruits have fibrous fruit wall which can be carried to long distances by water currents. The fruit bursts liberating seeds or directly develops into new plant.
Example: Coconut, lotus.
(c) Animals: Seeds of juicy fruits are carried away by birds and animals. The juicy part is digested and the seed part is dropped out in land. Some fruits bear hooks and thorns which stick to the fur of wool or some animal and is dispersed.
(d) Explosions: Some plants disperse their own seeds. Pods dry and split open suddenly and seeds by force are thrown to long distances, when the conditions are favourable they give rise to new identical plants.
