Acid rain, or acid deposition, is a board term that nicludes any form of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that fall to the ground from the atmosphere in wet or dry forms. This can include rain, snow, fog, hail or even dust that is acidic. Acidic water usually has pH 2.5 to 4.5, which poisons the ecosystem and adversley affects plants, fishes, mammals. It is caused by industrial pollutants, mainly sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides, emitted into the atmosphere and returning to earth in the form of acidic rain water.
