Two wires, A and B are placed parallel to each other in a vertical plane such that A carries 5 A and B carries 2 A of current in W-E direction. If a magnetic compass is placed mid way between A and B such that it is free to rotate in horizontal plane, then in which direction, would it deflect ?
if the direction of current in A and B is reserved, in which direction would it deflect ?

(i) Relative between strenght of current and magnetic field .
(ii) Use Ampere.s right hand rule to find the direction of magnetic field.
(iii) Usually to determine the magnetic meridian we use a magnetic compass and the magnetic needle inside it is fixed in a horizontal plane .
