An element X on treatment with oxygen gives Y which on hydrolysis produces Z.Z on treatment with higher oxide of carbon 'A' gives milky white precipitate 'B'. Identify X, Y, Z, A and B?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

As, Z on treatment with oxide A of carbon , gives milky appearance to the solution by forming B, Z is `Ca(OH)_(2)`, A is `CO_(2)`, B is `CaCO_(3)`
As Z is produced by hydrolysis of Y. Y is CaO. As Y is prepared by treating X with oxygen, X is Ca.
