Compare which of the two drivers, in each case given below, would have to apply brakes harder in order to stop their vehicle. Give a reason for each answer. (Assume all vehicles are moving at the same speed and have similar brakes and tyres).
A person driving a car on a smooth road or a person driving a car on a rough road.

Text Solution

AI Generated Solution

To determine which driver would have to apply brakes harder to stop their vehicle, we can analyze the situation based on the friction between the tires and the road surface. ### Step-by-Step Solution: 1. **Identify the Conditions**: - Both drivers are driving at the same speed. - Both vehicles have similar brakes and tires. - One vehicle is on a smooth road, and the other is on a rough road. ...

A person driving a car with a speed 72 km/h suddenly sees a boy crossing the road. If the distance moved by car, before the person applies brakes is 5 m, the reaction time of the person is

A car is traveling at 7.0 m/s when the driver applies the brakes. The car moves 1.5 m before it comes to a complete stop. It the car had been moving at 14 m/s, how far would it have continued to move after the brakes were applied ? Assume the braking force is constant .

Directions: Direction: Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below. Ten vehicles viz. Cycle, Scooter, Car, Auto, Train, Boat, Truck, Helicopter, Motorcycle and Aeroplane are given with their speeds viz. 9, 17, 30, 35, 45, 55, 70, 224, 367 and 575 but not necessarily in the same order. These vehicles are placed in two rows in such a way that five vehicles are in each row and each vehicle from one row is exactly opposite a vehicle from the other row. All the vehicles are placed from east to west in the increasing order of their speeds. (in km/hr) The car is sitting third to the extreme end and facing North. The vehicle car is facing immediate neighbour of boat whose speed is 17 km/hr. Boat is somewhere left of truck. Motorcycle and Helicopter are immediate neighbours of each other and one of them has even number speed and the other has odd number speed. Only one vehicle comes in between Train and Boat whose (boat and train) speeds are neither 55 nor 35 km/hr. Cycle and boat are immediate neighbours of each other. The one who faces Train sits third to the Scooter who has a speed of multiple of 5. Truck faces car. Aeroplane is sitting at the extreme end and has the highest speed. The ones who have speed of 35 and 45 km/hr are immediate neighbours of each other. Motorcycle has more speed than Train. Truck has speed 55 km/hr. Motorcycle is not at the extreme end. What is the sum of speeds of car and cycle?
