Explanation

When electric current is passed through a liquid, which is a conductor of electricity, the chemical compound present in the liquid slips into ints constituent substanance. Hence, the liquid undergoes a chemical changed upon the passage of current though it. this is called the chemical effect of current. this process, in which an electrolyte decomposes into its constituents when electric current is passed through it, is called electrolysis.
