In Vallisneria, a disoecious plant male flower abscises from the submerged spadix and rises to surface of water. The female plant produces llng stalked solitary flowers which are also brought to the surface of water. They have large sticky trifid stigmas.
The male flowers come in contact with stigma of female flowers. The anther bursts and pollination is performed. After pollination female flowers are pulled inside water by coiling of stalk.
