Hotspots are areas that are extremely rich in species diversity, have high endemism and are under constant threat of extinction. Out o the total hotspots of the world, three are found in India. They are Eastern Himalayas which extends from North-Eastern India to Bhutan, Western Ghats which include forests that lie in the states such as Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and Indo-Burma region.
