Blue colour of copper sulphate solution is discharged by dipping an iron rod in it.

Due to more negative `E_(("red"))^(@)` value of Fe, it displaces `Cu^(2+)` ions from solution and form `FeSO_(4)`. Hence, blue colour of the solution disappears.
