A jet plane is travelling towards West at a speed of `1800` km/h. What is the voltage difference developed between the end of the wing having a span of `25` m, if the earth's magnetic field at the location has a magnitude of `5xx10^(-4)` T and the dip angle is `30^(@)` ?

Given, speed of jet plane,
`v=1800km//h=1800xx(5)/(18)=500` m/s
l=distance between the ends of the wings =`25` m
The magnitude of magnatic field, `B=5xx10^(-4)` T
Angle of dip, `delta=30^(@)`
Use the formula of motional emf,
`e=B_(V)vl` or `e=(Bsindelta)vl`
(`:.` vertical component of the earth.s magnetic field, `B_(V)=Bsindelta`)
`e=5xx10^(-4)sin30^(@)xx500xx25=3.1` V
Thus, the voltage difference developed between the ends is `3.1` V.
