What are the conclusions drawn by T.H. Morgan from the crossing experiment in Drosophila with respect to linkage?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Higher the linkage, lesser is the recombination. Lesser the linkage, higher is the recombination.
Detailed Answer:
Based on his experiment, T.H. Morgan concluded that
(a) When two genes were situated on the same chromosome, the proportion of parental gene combinations was much higher than the non parental type. This is due to linkage.
(b) Tightly linked genes show low recombination while loosely linked genes show high recombination.
