Why does sharp glass edge become smooth on heating it upto its melting point in a flame ? Explain which property of liquids is responsible for this phenomenon.

Upon heating, a glass melts lalnd the surface of the liquid tends to take rounded shapes at the edges. The makes the edge smooth and fine. This is known as fire polishing of glass. The property of liquids resonsible for this behaviour is surfaces tension.
