Draw the graph of `|x|-|y|=2` using graphical transformation.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We have `|x|-|y|=2`
Consider `y=|x|-2`, the graph of which can be obtained by shifting the graph of `y=|x|"by"'2'` units downward vertically. Hence the graph of `y=|x|-2` can be drawn as follows.

Now to draw the graph of `|y|=|x|-2`, neglect the part of the above graph for `ylt0` and take the mirror image of the graph for `ygt0` in the x-axis.
So the graph of `|y|=|x|-2` can be draw as follows.
