The coordinates of the foot of the perpendicular from the point `(2,3)` on the line `-y+3x+4=0` are given by

A

(37/10, -1/10)

B

(-1/10,37/10)

C

(10/37,-10)

D

(2/3,-1/3)

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

The line passing through (2,3) and perpendicular to -y+3x+4=0 is
`(y-3)/(x-2) =-(1)/(3)`
or 3y+x-11 = 0
Therefore, the foot is x=-1/10, y=37/10.
