Why does a sharp knife cut object more effectively than a blunt knife ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In case of a sharp knife, the force applied by our hand falls over a smaller area and so exerts more pressure. A blunt knife has a thicker edge and so the force applied by our hand falls over a larger area and so in this case the pressure on the object is lesser. This is why a sharp knife cuts the object more easily than a blunt knife.
