Due to some mutation, sperms of animal X lack an organelle that also plays an important role in digesting limiting membrane of egg to facilitate entry of sperm. This organelle is filled with hydrolytic enzymes. Identify this organelle and select the correct option regarding it.

A

Tadpoles lacking this organelle in their cells do not transform into adult frogs

B

During starvation this organelle brings about autophagy to provide the necessary energy.

C

This organelle possesses photosynthetic pigments on its membrane.

Organelle X bears ribosomes on its outer surface. Organelle X and organelle Y together give rise to organelle Z which is often referred to as 'suicide bag' of cells. Identify organelles X, Y and Z and select the incorrect option regarding them.

Refer to the given Venn diagram. Select the correct option regarding organelle X and Y.

Based on the given features, identify the cell organelle and select the correct option regarding it. I. It is single membrane bound cell organelle. II. Enzymes of this cell organelle resorbed the tail of tadpole during metamorphosis.

Read the given passage. Each cell has got certain specific components within it known as cell organelles. Each kind of cell organelle performs a special function such as making new material in the cell, clearing up the waste material from the cell and so on. Select the correct statements regarding the passage. (i) All cell organelles are found in the cytoplasm of the cell. (ii) Any cell can perform all functions due to the presence of the cell organelles. (iii) Cell organelles are membrane-bound, subcellular components within the cell. (iv) Cell organelles are absent in all unicellular organisms.

Read the passage given below and answer the following questions: Reduction of carboxylic acids and their derivatives plays an important role in organic synthesis, in both laboratory and industrial processes. Traditionally, the reduction is performed using stochiometric amounts of hydride reagents, generating stochiometric amounts of waste. A much more attractive, atom-economical approach is a catalytic reaction using H_2 , however, hydrogenation of carboxylic acid derivatives under mild conditions is a very challenging task, with amides presenting the highest challenge among all classes of carbonyl compounds. Very few examples of the important hydrogenation of amides to amines, in which the C-O bond is cleaved with the liberation of water (Scheme 1), were reported. C-O cleavage of amides can also be affected with silanes as reducing agents. We have now prepared the new, dearomatized, bipyridine-based pincer complex 3, catalyst 3(Here refered as Cat. 3). Remarkably, it efficiently catalyzes the selective hydrogenation of amides to form amines and alcohols (eq 1). The reaction proceeds under mild pressure and neutral conditions, with no additives being required. Since the reaction proceeds well under anhydrous conditions, hydrolytic cleavage of the amide is not involved in this process. (Balaraman, E., Gnanaprakasam, B., Shimon, L. J., & Milstein, D. (2010). Direct hydrogenation of amides to alcohols and amines under mild conditions. Journal of the American Chemical Society, 132(47), 16756-16758.) In the following questions, a statement of assertion followed by a statement of reason is given. Choose the correct answer out of the following choices on the basis of the above passage. Assertion: Aniline can be prepared from suitable amide using catalyst 3 Reason: The use of catalyst 3 is limited to aliphatic amides only.

Which of the following statements regarding fertilization is/are correct ? (i) The acrosome is filled with hydrolytic enzymes which help in dissolving the membrane of the ovum at the time of fertilization. (ii) Vitelline membrane is the first membrane to be faced by sperms while trying to fuse with the ovum . (iii) There must be synchronicity in the release of ovum and entry of sperm for the formation of zygote . (iv) The meiotic division of the secondary oocyte is concluded with the entry of male gamete.

Fragmentation, leaching and catabolism are some of the important steps of decomposition. Study the following statements I , ii and iii regarding these and select the correct option. (i) Detritivores (e.g., earthworm) breakdown detritus into smaller particles. (ii) Water soluble inorganic nutrients go down into soil horizon and get precipitated as unavailable salts. (iii) Decomposers (e.g., bacteria and fungi) secrete digestive enzymes and degrade detritus into simpler inorganic substances.

Some important events that take place during fertilisation are given below. Arrange the events in a proper sequence and select the correct option. (i). Cortical reaction (ii). Sperm entry (iii). Karyogamy (iv). Acrosomal reaction
