Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Species which lie at the bottom of the taxonomic ladder bear the smallest number of organisms and since the members of a species can interbreed among themselves, they possess maximum characteristics in common. In the hierarchy of classification, kingdom is at the top. It bears the largest number of organisms because a kingdom is split into several phyla, classes, orders, families, genera and species, each having their specific characteristics.
