Cholera patient frequently passes stools and gets repeated vomiting. Due to this, a large amount of water and electrolytes are lost from the body which can cause intense dehydration. Fluid and salt loss is restored by oral rehydration solution. It is water with a small amount of sugar and salt. Cholera is caused from bacterial pathogen Vibrio cholerae which is a comma-shaped bacteria. The stools and the vomit of a cholera patient are full of cholera pathogens.
