Biofertilisers are living microorganisms used to increase the soil fertility. Biofertilisers add nutrients through the natural processes of nitrogen fixation, solubilising phosphorus and stimulating plant growth through the synthesis of growth promoting substances. Biofertilisers readily convert complex organic materials into simple compounds, so that plants can take them easily. They can also provide protection against drought and some soil borne diseases. These are cost effective relative to chemical fertilisers and are environmental friendly and prevent damaging of natural resources.
