X-ray experiment is the converse of photoelectric effect. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Roentgen in 1895 showed that when high energy electrons are stopped by matter, electromagnetic radiations are produced. However in photoelectric effect, electrons are emitted from matter when electromagnetic radiations are incident on a surface. So, it can be said that X-ray experiment is opposite of photo electric effect.
