A cell supplies a current of `0.9` A through a `2Omega` resistor and current of `0.3` A through a `7Omega` resistor What is the internal resistance of the cell ?

Text Solution

If E is the emf of the cell and r is its internal resistance, then
`(E)/(2+r)=0.9` . . . (1)
`(E)/(7+r)=0.3` . . . (2)
Dividing the two equations, we get
`(7+r)/(2+r)=(0.9)/(0.3)`
`:.r=0.5Omega`
