What is puberty and when does it occur in a human male and human female?

Puberty is the process of physical changes through which a child.s body matures into an adult body capable of sexual reproduction to enable fertilisation. It is imtiated by hormonal signals from the brain to the gonads (ovaries in a girl and testes in a boy). It brings about physical growth development of secondary sex characters, etc. On average, girls begin puberty at age of 10-11 and complete by 15-17 years of age. Boys begin puberty at age of 11-12 and complete at ages 16-17.
