How is the sperm able to do so?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The sperm in the female genital tract undergo activation by the secretions of genital tract. The activated sperms undergo acrosomal reactions releasing chemicals contained in the acrosome. These chemicals act on follicle cells, corona radiata and digest zona pellucida. The plasma membrane of the sperm fuses with plasma membrane of secondary oocyte so that only sperm nucleus enters the oocyte.
