Human Blood Group. Human population has four types of blood groups : A, B, AB and O. These are determined by the presence of a specific glycoprotein substance called antigen on th surface of RBCs and are determined by three different alleles of gene `I. I^A, I^B and i`. These ar located on the 9th chromosome. They constitute multiple alleles. Allele i is the wild type and recessive The alleles `I^A` and `I^B` are dominant over gene-i but are codominant to each other and both ar expressed when present together.
