Define Mendel’s law of dominance. Draw only Punnett’s square to explain this law.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Law or Principle of Dominance. Out of the two factors or alleles representing different traits of a character, only one expresses itself. The factor or allele which expresses itself in the hybrid is called dominant factor. The other factor or allele which is unable to show its effect in the presence of alternate allele in the hybrid is called recessive factor.

Here the factor ‘T. for tallness is dominant over its contrasting factor .y. for dwarfness. So in `F_2` generation all the plants are hybrid Tall (Tt) while in F, generation we get 3 Tall and 1 dwarf plant.
