AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome). It was first reported in 1981. It is caused by HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus). a type of retrovirus (with reverse transcription) Virus consists of core of RNA genomie which have proteinaceous envelope.
Transmission.
(a) Sexual contact with infected person.
(b) Transfusion of contaminated blood and blood products.
(c) By sharing infected needles in case of intravenous drug abusers.
(d) From mother to child through placenta.
