Explain the effects of green house gases?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

1. Green house gases are essential for keeping the earth warm and hospitable.
2. They prevent a substantial part of long wave radiations emitted by earth to escape into space. They radiate a part of this energy back to the earth. This phenomenon is called green house flux.
The excessive accumulation of green house gases is leading to increase in mean global temperature called global warming e.g., `CO_2, CH_4, CFCs, H_2O` vapours etc.
It is leading to changes in the sea level and effect on weather and climate.
