Phylogeny means the evolutionary history of a particular group of organisms. The present day organisms originated from the simplest types of organisms called protobiont. The simplest living forms gave rise to the complex multicellular forms during biotic evolution. Monerans originated first of all and then the origin of eukaryotes took place. Later on, eukaryotes originated along three different lines to produce plants, fungi, and animals.
