(i) Food `:` Few member of brown algae are edible. Example `:` Laminaria, Alaria, Macrocystis.
(ii) Fooder `:` Fucus, Sargassum, Ascophyllum, Laminaria are used as fodder far cattle.
(iii) Manure `:` In sea-shore area, few members of brown algae are used as manure.
(iv) Medicines `:` Sodium laminarian sulphate is obtained from Laminaria which is used as blood anticoagulant.
(v) Iodine and Potash `:` Fucus and Laminaria are rich in iodine while potash can be obtained from Macrocystis, Nereocystis.
