In the life cycle of liverworts only one type of spores is present. The sporogenous tissue or spore mother cells undergo meiotic ( reductional ) division inside the capsule. This results in production of haploid spores. In the life cycle of mosses ( For example, Funaria ) one kind of spores is produced. Melotic ( reductional ) division accurs within the capsule before their release to outside.
