The different characteristics of physical adsorption are as follows:
i) Non-specific : Physical adsorption is non-specific in nature. Every gas gets adsorb upto lesser or a greater extent. ii) Nature of adsorbate : Easier the liquefaction of gases, easier will be the adsorption. iii) Nature of physical adsorption : Physical adsorption is reversible in nature. iv) Heat of adsorption : Physical adsorption has low heat of adsorption i.e., 20-40 kJ `"mol"^(-1)` . v) Effect of temperature : Physical adsorption increases with decrease of temperature. It is exothermic in nature.
