Proteins: The complex compounds formed by more than 100 or many a-amino acid units, linked through peptide bonds, having molecular mass greater than 10000 u are called proteins. Due to peptide linkage these are polypeptide in nature.
Important uses of proteins
i) Proteins are chief structural unit of animal tissues. ii) Proteins act as transport agent in the body.
iii) Proteins can act as catalyst. iv) Proteins act as antibodies.
