Vitamins are complex organic compounds or group of biomolecules which cannot be produced in the body except vitamin D. They must be·supplied in small amount by diet for growth and maintenance of body. They neither supply energy nor help in building tissue. Their deficiency may cause serious disturbance and body diseases. They maintain normal metabolic processes required for the life, growth, and health of human being and animal organisms. Their deficiency leads to specific diseases.
