Calculate the value of resistance needed...

Calculate the value of resistance needed to coavert a galvanometer of resistance `200 Omega.` which gives full scale deflection for a current of 5 m A, into a voltmeter of range 25 volt.

Text Solution

We are given : `G = 200 Omega ,I _(g) = 5 m A = 5 xx 10 ^(-3) A`
We know that `R = ( V )/( I _(R)) - G = ( 25)/( 5 xx 10 ^(-3)) - 200 = 4800 Omega `
