1. Earthworm. Earthworms, which belong to annelida, play a significant role in argiculture. By their burrowing activity they plough soil, enabling the roots of the plants to grow deeper. Indian pearl oysters produce pearls which are of great economic value. The pearly layer of unio is used for the manufacture of buttons, knife handles, brooches, toys etc. It belongs to the class Pelecypoda. 5. Flatworms. These are endoparasite in the intestine of man, sheep etc. and belong to phylum platyhelminthes.
