When a glass rod is rubbed with silk then it acquires a charge of `+ 1.6 xx 10^(-19) C`. What is the charge on the silk ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When a glass rod is rubbed with silk cloth then number of electrons lost by glass rod is equal to number of electrons gained by silk cloth. In this case, a single electron is lost by glass rod and hence a single electron is gained by silk cloth. So charge on silk cloth is equal to charge on an electron i.e. - `1.6 xx10^(-19) C`
