Electric field between the plates get reduced when a dielectric slab is. inserted between the plates of a capacitor and as a result, Potential difference, between the plates of E capacitor also gets reduced. To make the potential difference again same more charge has to be given to the capacitor and hence the capacitance of the capacitor also increases.
