Why should circuits containing capacitor...

Why should circuits containing capacitor be handled cautiously, even when there is no current?

Text Solution

A capacitor can store large amount of charge in it and does not discharge itself. So even when it is disconnected from the main circuit, it can have large amount of charge and hence.will be at high potential. So if a person touches it without discharging it first then he may get a severe shock.
