Why is not possible to make a spherical conductor of capacity one farad ? Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here C =1 F
Capacitance of a spherical conductor = `C= 4pi epsilon_(0)r`
where r = radius of spherical conductor
`rArr r = C/(4piepsilon_(0)) =(1/(4pi epsilon_(0)))C`
`r = 9 xx 10^(9) xx 1 = 9 xx 10^(9) m`
Because radius of the spherical conductor must be very large (even larger than radius of earth). to have a capacity of 1 Farad.
So practically, .it is not possible to make a conductor of capacity 1 farad.
