Magnetic field lines can be entirely con...

Magnetic field lines can be entirely confined within the core of a toroid, but not within a straight solenoid. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The magnetic field lines always form closed loops. Because the turns of wire wound around toroid are in circular form and as a result, magnetic field lines remain confined to the core of a toroid. But in a straight solenoid, magnetic field lines can not form closed loops within the solenoid id hence do not remain confined to solenoid.
