X-rays : There rays were discovered by W. Roentgen and are produced when fast moving electrons are bombarded on a target having high atomic number.
Use of X-rays.
1. Detective departments. They are used in detective department for detection of explosives, opium and other contraband goods and are used by custom department for detecting gold and sliver in the body of smugglers. They are also used in mints, where coins are made. They are also used for distingushing real diamonds, gems etc. from artificial ones.
2. Inductry. X-rays are used in industry for detecting the pearls in oysters, for testing the unifromity of insulating materials and homogeneity of timber. They are also used to examine the defect in rubber tyres, golf and tennis balls, wood, etc.
