A photon and an electron have got same de Brogile wavelength. Which has greater total energy? Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`lamda = (h)/(sqrt(2mE))`
On squaring, `lamda^(2)= (h^(2))/(2mE)`
`E prop (1)/(m)` [`because lamda` is same for both particles]
As the mass of electron is less than that of a proton, so energy of electron is greater than of proton.
