For greater stability,a nucleius hsold have greater value of binding energy per nucleon. Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Larger the binding energy per nucleon, larger will be the sability of the nucleus because nucleons remain confined to the nucleus and large-energy is required to eject them out. So for greater stability binding energy per nucleon should be large rather than total value of binding energy.
