To carry out the nuclear reactions, two light nuclei have to be brought very close to each other against the electrostatic force of repulsion.
To do so, large amount of energy is required which is provided to them by raising them to very high temperature about `10^(7)` K. That is why nuclear fusion reaction is known as a thermo nuclear reaction.
