A `100 Omega` resistance is connected is series with a silicon diode. If the combination is forward biased with a 12V battery, find the current through the circuit. Assume body resistance and barrier potential of diode to be `25Omega` and 0.7V respectively.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`R=100Omega`, Applied voltage = 12V, Barrier potential = 0.7V
Net voltage in the circuit `=12-0.7= 11.3V`
Body resistance `=25Omega`
Net resistance `=R_("eff")= 100+25=125 Omega`
Current flowing through the circuit `=(11.3)/(125)`
`=0.0904A = 90.4 xx 10^(-3)A= 90.4mA`
