Crystal Lattice or Space Lattice : The regular three dimensional arrangement of points in space is called a crystal lattice.
Unit Cell. (i) The smallest portion of crystal lattice which when repeated in different directions generates the entire lattice.
(ii) It is arrangement of points in three dimensions. There are 14 possible three dimensional lattices called Bravias Lattices.
(iii) It represents the smallest unit of cell of the crystal. There are 7 types of primitive unit cells.
(iv) For a cubic unit cell, `a=b=c,alpha=beta=gamma=90^(@)`
For a tetragonal unit cell, `a=bnec,alpha=beta=gamma=90^(@)`
