Paramagnetic Substances and Paramagnetism
The property by virtue of which certain substances are very weakly attracted by a magnetic field is called paramagnetism and such substances are called paramagnetic substances. These substances are magnetised in a magnetic field in the same direction. However, they lose their magnetism in the absence of a magnetic field. Such substances have one or more unpaired electrons in their atoms or ions.
Examples : Diaoxygen `(O_(2)),Cu^(2+),Fe^(3+),Cr^(3+)` etc.
